Sketches from clergy conference

The clergy conference was held at Alderbrook Resort, a luxury resort on Hood Canal. It's a beautiful facility with an awe-inspiring view. They've kept some enormous fir trees that tower over the buildings.
I sketched Greg, our bishop, while he spoke.

Skokomish Shaker Church

The clergy conference today was held at a very posh resort on Hood Canal. After a long day of presentations, I was tired and needed a change. I drove to the nearby Indian reservation and found this Shaker Church on a side road that had small houses with crab pots and children playing in the yards.

Clergy conference

Today I attended the annual clergy conference and heard Paul Fromberg and Sara Miles from St. Gregory of Nyssa in San Francisco speak. While listening I made this sketch of another listener.

Another clergy friend at clergy conference. The presenters told about their radical welcome: "We need the stranger." We sang some cool chants and talked about those moments in the liturgy when "something happens."

Strong faces

I love to sketch strong faces. A face with strong features is more interesting visually and also more fun to sketch. I saw this woman sitting in Starbucks in a deep conversation. She seemed very empathetic, engaging closely with her friend.

Coffee klatch

Our house is only one block away from the local Starbucks, so it's easy for me to stroll over there for my morning coffee. Monday mornings usually have a pretty vivacious crowd. I sketched this group of women at their Monday morning coffee klatch.

I sketched this guy in one of the big green chairs at Starbucks.
