Commuters on the ferry

This morning I went to Seattle on the ferry and sketched this commuter couple. Lots of people commute daily on the ferry and have their own seats and their daily routines, like this couple.

John de Beer and the Klesis Project

Today I attended a workshop on the Klesis curriculum presented by John de Beer. This guy is brilliant...he developed the EFM program and somehow comes up with the best ways of framing questions to help people learn. He's a gangly chap with a charming South African accent and a disarmingly humble manner. Here's my sketch.

Breakfast at Hi-Lo's Fifteenth Street Cafe

Day off (mostly)! Guy and I went to breakfast this morning at Hi-Lo's Fifteenth Street Cafe, my favorite local cafe. I recommend the breakfast burrito with sausage.

Trinity Episcopal Church, Seattle

Today I visited a parishioner at Swedish Hospital in Seattle. I got there early, and while I waited for her to come out of surgery, I walked down to Trinity Church and made this sketch. The solid old stone building is quite a contrast to the soaring towers that loom above it.

The Canadian Tenors

Last night Guy and I attended a performance of the Canadian Tenors. We were given free tickets by a parishioner. Lovely voices and they put on a good show. I especially liked "O sole mio".

The Rev. Norman Stockwell

Today I visited St. Mary's, Lakewood, where there was a photo of The Rev. Norman Stockwell. I made a sketch of the photo.

Bainbridge Bakery

I went to Bainbridge Island today and had coffee at the Bainbridge Bakery after my appointment. Heavenly aromas of coffee and baked goods.

Diocesan Convention 2009

Last Friday and Saturday I attended Diocesan Convention in Vancouver. Three other delegates from our parish also attended and we found it a stimulating and faith-filled event. I made these sketches while we were there.
While the bishop gave his annual address, I made a sketch of the convention hall. Click on the image to see a larger version.

During the Eucharist I sang in the choir and surrepetitiously made this sketch of the clergy at the altar.

This is the Vancouver Hilton where the convention was held. I have to admit the Hilton did a great job of hosting the convention.

During the closing Eucharist, five people were ordained deacons. I made this sketch as one of them was being presented to the bishop for ordination.

Thursday afternoon

I took Holy Communion to Charles who rambled along a few words behind me in the Lord's prayer and made a face when I gave him a sip of the wine.

I finished the day with a visit to the Starbucks near the Bremerton ferry terminal and made this sketch. Click on the image to see a larger version.

St. Francis

I copied this image from our bulletin cover for last Sunday.
