Village Greens Golf Course

Today I played golf with a friend. I got there an hour early and made this sketch of the first fairway. Village Greens is a very humble golf course. It's greens are short and modest, and the fees are very low. Perfect for a couple of duffers like us.

The warm weather we've been having has made the grass nice and green, and the temperature was mild, so it was a pleasant outing. Now if I could learn to hit the ball!

Another scan of Clear Creek Estuary

I scanned this watercolor using another scanner to see if it looks better.

Clear Creek estuary

During lunch today I clambered off the shoulder of Bucklin Hill Road and made this watercolor of Clear Creek estuary. The scanner doesn't pick up the subtle tones of the lighter watercolor washes, but you get the idea. I like the blend of colors.

Afternoon winter light at Eagle Harbor

While I was in Bainbridge Island I walked to the harbor. The afternoon light in the sky reflecting off the water was lovely and I tried to catch the yellows and pinks.

Scribble drawing

I made this scribble drawing of John Leach at Fresh Start meeting.

Firestone garage in Tacoma

Last week I was on my way to a meeting when my car broke down in Tacoma. Luckily I got to the Firestone garage and they replaced the pulley that had frozen up. While the mechanic worked, I made this sketch.

St. Antony Icon

I made this image using Photoshop, with the idea that I'd like to have an "icon" for our church to use as an image that identifies us. This is just a rough beginning, but you get the idea.

Port of Bremerton Meeting

On Tuesday I went to the swearing in ceremony for Roger Zabinsky, the newly elected commissioner for the Port of Bremerton. After the ceremony, I stayed and sketched the meeting.

Mary Glasspool, the newly elected bishop in Los Angeles, has a strong, intelligent face. I sketched her protrait tonight from a web photo.

Daniel Ferguson recital

Today I attended a recital by Daniel Ferguson, a young man who goes to our church. Daniel is a member of the University of Idaho choir that is going to Europe this spring. Daniel is a very gifted musician and often sings for us whe he's home from college. Today he sang and played the cello to an appreciative audience as a fundraiser for his trip to Europe. I sketched him while he sang.
