Ferry Commuters

On the way back to Bremerton, I sketched these weary commuters on the 4:20 pm ferry.

Bright Water School

While waiting for the bus to go home, I made this sketch of the beautiful old buildings that now house Bright Water School.

Fourth and Pike, Seattle

While waiting for Bus #49, I made this quick sketch of Fourth and Pike in downtown Seattle.

USS Turner Joy

The ferry to Seattle was delayed because of fog, so I made a sketch of the historic USS Turner Joy, a Viet Nam-era destroyer moored near the Bremerton ferry terminal.

Celebration of New Ministry for Jane Maynard

Last Tuesday I attended the Celebration of New Ministry for Jane Maynard, the new rector at Christ Episcopal Church, Tacoma. Jane is an bright, forthright and sensitive leader and I'm sure she'll do good things for Christ Church.

The church is a modernistic poured-cement building. It struck me as a cold and barren space, but the acoustics were heavenly. The choir of 25 sang in the rear, and their voices bounced off the curved cement front wall and seemed to surround us.
