My sons playing video games

On Sunday I drove to Portland to spend some time with my two sons. While they were playing video games, I made this sketch.

Christ in Gethsemane

"Going a little further, Jesus threw himself on the ground and prayed, 'My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me.'" Matthew 26:39

Port Gamble house

Today I drove to Port Gamble, an old mill town where everything was owned by The Company. The old houses are still there, kept up in all their Victorian splendor, surrounded by spacious lawns. I made a watercolor of this simple old house.

Entry Into Jerusalem

On Palm Sunday, we remember Jesus entry into Jerusalem seated on a donkey, to fulfill the prophecy that the king would come on a donkey. This sketch is a copy of an 1860 print by Julius Schnorr von Carolsfeld.

The Valley of Dry Bones

The prophet Ezekiel had a vision in which he saw a valley full of dry bones. God told him to prophesy to the bones, and they came alive. God said, "This is my people Israel."

The man born blind

Jesus spat on the ground, made mud with the saliva and spread the mud on the man's eyes. John 9:6

Bayne Cottage

Last night we stayed at Bayne Cottage, a beach cabin on Hood Canal given as a clergy retreat. It's a wonderful cabin, perched out over the water, with views of Hood Canal and the Olympic Mountains (or like this morning, lots of fog). We had a peaceful getaway that was good for both of us.
