Quality Auto Service

After my appointment in Bainbridge Island this morning, I wandered down toward the ferry terminal and found this charming old-style gas station. Sat there on the sidewalk making this watercolor as people walked by to get to the ferry. Click on the image for a larger view.

For some reason I am a member of the Personnel Commission for the Diocese of Olympia. Since I know next to nothing about HR (human relations), I'm next to useless on the Commission, but I try to give my best input.

The thing I like about the meetings is that they're on Thursdays at 6pm, which means that I can take the 3:00 ferry and have some time to enjoy Seattle.

On Thursday I got to DHouse about a half hour early, so I made this watercolor of the entrance. The building is a grand old edifice, formerly a mansion of a wealthy family who gifted it to the Episcopal Diocese. I like the stone work and the carvings.

Pike Place Market

On Thursday I took the ferry to Seattle for a meeting at DHouse. It was a beautiful spring day, so I walked the three miles, enjoying every inch of the way. It was such a delight to see people, buildings, movement, energy. I stopped at the corner of Third and Pike and made this sketch of Pike Place market, then I added watercolor when I got home.

Suncadia 4

This evening after dinner I made this watercolor just as the sun was going down. It's larger than the previous watercolors of Suncadia...about 10x13. Click on the photo to see a larger version.

Suncadia 3

This afternoon I swam my usual 1300 yards in the Suncadia pool, then I made this watercolor of the front of the resort.

Suncadia 2

This is another view from Suncadia. The resort is located on a bluff above the river, and the distant mountains stretch out in a grand vista.

Suncadia Resort 1

I'm attending clergy conference at Suncadia Resort near Cle Elum, WA. It's a luxury resort set in the foothills of the Cascade mountains, with stunning views. Yesterday afternoon I made this sketch in my 5x8 Moleskine notebook.

Starbucks couple

I liked the body language of this couple across from me at Starbucks today.

Bayshore Day Spa

I really like this building. It's right on the edge of Dye's Inlet, and the warm color of the building contrasts with the cool branches of the fir trees above. Bayshore Day Spa.

Bainbridge Waterfront Trail again

I painted this watercolor of the Bainbridge Waterfront Trail from the sketch I made last Monday.

Beach House

This is a beach house from my imagination. I'm trying to just be loose and let the watercolors flow.

Fuzzy guy

I enjoyed this fuzzy guy in the cafe.

Roosters Cafe

Had coffee at Roosters Cafe in Bainbridge and made this sketch.

Bainbridge Waterfront Trail

Like many clergypersons, I was exhausted after yesterday's Easter services. So today i went to Bainbridge Island to be refreshed. Saw my spiritual director, took a walk, made some sketches, had lunch. A good day. This is the waterfront trail along the edge of Eagle Harbor.

Boatyard scene again

My second attempt from this photo of a boatyard in Portugal by Joan Centellas.
