Alderbrook Resort on Hood Canal

I was at our annual clergy conference today, and I had time to make this watercolor. We met at Alderbrook Resort on Hood Canal, which has a beautiful view of the Olympic Mountains (when the clouds aren't covering them).

The Cottage on Miller Bay

I was fortunate to be able to stay at this cottage on Miller Bay for two nights for a personal retreat before Holy Week. I took a hike to the beach on Indianola Spit, paddled a kayak, did the crossword puzzle, made this watercolor -- oh, yes, and I read a book, The Last Week, by Borg and Crossan, in preparation for my Holy Week sermons.

Tiny trailer

I found this tiny trailer in the woods during one of my exploratory drives through the backwoods of Kitsap County. It looks like someone used it for a very cheap place to live at one point.

Male model

At my last life drawing class I had three paintings I liked. I think I'm starting to get proportions better. Now to get modelling and volume.

Stottlemeyer Road barn

I love to drive around Kitsap County looking for interesting scenes. My favorites are the old homesteads and farms, like this old barn on Stottlemeyer Road.

Logging skidder

I'm a little behind in uploading my sketches. I'll try to get caught up.

A couple of weeks ago I noticed that logging equipment was working in the woods just down the road from our house. So I climbed through the logging slash and made this sketch of the skidder they used to pull out the logs.
