204 Prospect Ave, Hood River, OR

This morning I found this lovely Craftsman home a couple of blocks from our vacation rental. I sat down on my tripod stool and started sketching when a woman in the house across the street came out to see what I was doing. She was very curious about my painting, even took some photos of me at work. Nice to have a support group!

311 Montello Ave, Hood River, OR

We're renting a vacation home in Hood River for a few days. This morning I got up early and went walking around the neighborhood. I chose one of the many lovely homes for a subject. While I painted, walkers and joggers passed by with a wave or hello. When I finished, the owner of the house came out to look at my painting. Very friendly place.  Watercolor, 9 x 12 inches.

Here's the preliminary pencil sketch.

Hood River houses, early morning

We're having a few days of vacation in Hood River, Oregon, at a vacation rental house. Early this morning I got up and made a couple of watercolors of houses in our area.

Post Alley in Pike Street Market

After my meeting today in Seattle, I strolled through Pike Street Market on my way back to the ferry. While I was there, I made a quick ink sketch and colored it on the ferry.

Lately I've been doing a lot of these portraits for Julia Kay's Portrait Party. I find it relaxing to do one or two before I go to bed. I think this is one of my better ones! From this photo.
