Last Friday, I went to Olympia with Katy because we wanted to have dinner with her co-worker, Nancy, and her husband. While Katy was teaching her anthropology classes, I wandered around the waterfront in Olympia. I found this boatyard and made myself at home while painted this watercolor. I like the strong contrast in the area between the boats. I decided I would try to put figures in my watercolors so I get used to painting figures. The workman is a little too tall.
I like this painting, but I think I could have painted it in a horizontal format and given more attention to the boats and their shapes. There's no need to include the masts all the way to the top.
